How can I understand my child’s level of understanding?
Compare your child’s score to the Scoring Scale to see exactly what they know and where they need to grow.

How can my child earn a higher score?
Teachers give assessments based on a variety of score levels. If a student doesn’t achieve the maximum score, adjustments can be made.

Will my child be given opportunities above the basic level (Score 2)?
Yes. Teachers will provide opportunities for all students to demonstrate learning at each level.

What level should my child reach each year?
Students should be performing at a Score 3 level by the end of the year.

Should I be concerned if my student isn’t at a Score 3 during the school year?
No. Learning is a process that takes time, so it is not unusual for students to start below Score 3 and work their way up throughout the year.

Why wouldn’t the expectation be Score 4?
Score 4 reflects a deep level of understanding beyond expectations of what was taught.

What will my child’s progress report look like?
Each student’s progress report will look similar to what you are used to seeing.

Will there be any changes to the report card?
Yes. Each measurement topic covered during the grading period will be listed with your child’s score.
