| Teacher Training and Professional Development
NHA is committed to training and developing all teachers and support staff. We’ve established several programs to help you grow professionally. All teachers are required to attend New Teacher Orientation, a week-long conference style seminar and training program where you will receive training on instructional techniques for grade level curriculum, classroom management and parent-teacher communication.
You will also receive ongoing training through site-based in-service programs and our Regional Learning Institutes where you can develop as an educator. This program helps new teachers better understand how to implement new instructional techniques and gives you a chance to collaborate with other colleagues.
New teachers in the first three years of their careers are paired with a mentor who will provide valuable professional support. Your mentor will help with goal setting based upon professional teaching standards, curriculum development, planning and other school specific issues. Experienced teachers who are new to NHA can request to become a mentor after their first year.
